One of the top new year’s resolutions for content professionals is to update their blogs more often — or at least it should be.
Blogging is an effective tool every business owner or online marketer needs in his or her arsenal. It is a cost-effective, simple way to engage your audience and communicate your message in a way that doesn’t appear to be blatant advertising. Even though it is simple, you need to plan a strategy for what you want your blog to accomplish and to always have these goals in the forefront of your mind.
Over the course of the next couple months, I’ll be sharing tips to help make sure that your blog is an important extension of your brand.

Consistency Is Key
Experts suggest writing on your blog two to three times a week at minimum. So block that time off. An editorial calendar that you make a recurring appointment in your calendar is a good idea. I prefer the minimalist look of the Calvetica calendar for iPhone.
The average posts don’t have to be long, just informative, pithy, and typo-free. Maybe once a week, spend an additional 15 minutes and write a longer, more detailed blog post. The important thing is to write on a consistent basis. In the words of Jedi Master Yoda: “Do, or do not. There is no try.”
